Ferreira-Melo,Valdinar; Keiko-Welter,Marina; Alves-Chagas,Edvan; Pereira-Uchôa,Sandra Cátia; da Silva-Siqueira,Raphael Henrique.
Abstract Ground basalt rock may represent a labile reservoir of nutrients, providing a low-cost, nutrient-rich substrate for seedling formation and plant growth. The study aimed to evaluate the development of a native plant murici [Byrsonima crassifolia (L.) H.B.K.] seedlings using two different application rates of ground basalt rock with two particles sizes. The experiment was performed in a greenhouse, in which treatments were arranged in a random block design with five replications in a factorial scheme (2 x 5 + 1), with five doses of finely ground basaltic rock (0.42; 1.04; 2.08; 4.17 and 8.33 g kg-1), two grain sizes (G1Ø < 0.05 and G2 Ø < 0.10 mm mesh), and a treatment with soil without rock powder addition (the control 0.0 g kg-1 of rock...

Cashew crop propagation Rev. Bras. Frutic.
Martins,Antonio Baldo Geraldo; Silva,Adriana de Castro Correia da; Chiamolera,Fernando Marcelo.
Abstract The cashew tree, a genuinely Brazilian fruit tree, is grown mainly because of its nuts and cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL), widely used in industry. Of great food importance, the cashew apple also presents economic representativeness in Brazil. With great variability, the culture has recently begun researches for improvement, with selection of new clones, more productive and with specific purpose. Usually propagated from seeds to produce new orchards, which has been replaced by vegetative propagation using the seed only for rootstocks production. Vegetative propagation by lateral grafting is the mainly technique used to multiplicated this crop, but various clonal propagation techniques, such air layering and tissue culture have been attempted. The...

CAMILO,YANUZI MARA VARGAS; SOUZA,ELI REGINA BARBOZA DE; NAVES,RONALDO VELOSO; VERA,ROSÂNGELA; VIEIRA,MUZA DO CARMO.
ABSTRACT The present research aimed to determine the fatty acid profile in the seed oil of cagaita fruits cultivated in Goiânia, state of Goiás, in 2013 and 2014 harvests. The study was carried out with fruits produced by cagaita trees cultivated in the field of the School of Agronomy, Federal University of Goiás (EA/UFG), Goiânia, GO, where, in 1998, 440 cagaita seedlings from different municipalities in Goiás were planted. Fruits were collected from plants with 16 years of age in full production stage. Cagaita seeds show in their fatty acid profile mostly linoleic acid, oleic acid and palmitic acid. There was no variation in fatty acids content present in seeds between years 2013 and 2014, assuming that there are no external influences such as weather,...

Development, characterization and stability of microemulsionated formulations of bacaba, Oenocarpus bacaba oil Acta Amazonica
TORRES,Maycon de Paula Ribeiro; ESPRENDOR,Rhuan Vínicius de Freitas; BONALDO,Solange Maria; RIBEIRO,Elton Brito; VALLADÃO,Dênia Mendes de Sousa.
ABSTRACT Advances in nanotechnology, combined with the use of natural products, represent a promissing research field. Brazil is a country of a rich biodiversity, especially in the Amazon forest. Fruits commonly used by local communities, such as bacaba (Oenocarpus bacaba), are potentially important for prospection of industrial applications of natural products. In nanotechnology, microemulsions stand out for providing a modified release to conveyed substances. This work aimed to develop microemulsionated formulations of bacaba oil, characterize them and evaluate their stability. We determined the HLB (hydrophile-lipophilic balance) of bacaba oil for formulation development. Six formulations were selected from pseudoternary diagrams, which indicated the...

Guavira emergence and seedling production with substrates containing organic compost and soil under different screen environments Rev. Bras. Frutic.
Costa,Edilson; Silva,Priscilla Nátaly de Lima; Jorge,Marçal Henrique Amici; Ferreira,Antonio Flávio Arruda.
This study aimed to evaluate different proportions of organic compost and soil as a substrate for the guavira emergence and seedling formation under different protected environments, in the high Pantanal region of the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. The seeds were placed in polyethylene bags (15 x 25 centimeters) filled with four percentages of organic compost (0%, 20%, 80%, and 100% of total volume) mixed with soil. These substrates were tested in agro-nurseries covered with black screen and 50% thermo-reflecting shade cloths. The substrate with 20% soil and 80% organic compost and the black screen shade cloth promote the best performance in the seedling production.
